  1.                                 Songs on Disk

  3.    The GET, STORE, and DELETE functions on the main menu allow you to get
  4. songs from disk, store songs on disk, and delete songs from disk.
  5. Ordinarily, songs are retrieved, stored, and deleted from the disk and
  6. directory from which you started the program.  However, by hitting the F1 key
  7. in the any of these functions, you can change to any valid directory and/or
  8. disk.

  10.    To retrieve a song from disk, select GET from the main menu, scroll
  11. through the songs displayed using the up and down arrow keys, and then
  12. hit Enter.  Since GET'ing a song writes over the song currently displayed,
  13. be sure to store any song you may have been editing or creating before using
  14. GET.

  16.    The STORE function is the opposite of GET.  It puts the song currently
  17. displayed onto the disk.  The program permits a maximum of 40 songs in any
  18. single directory.  To store more songs, use a different directory or disk.

  20.    When you wish to erase a song on a disk, use DELETE.  DELETE removes the
  21. song from the disk permanently - so be sure you select the correct song when
  22. using this function.

  27.    When using the program on a Tandy 1000 or other computer with the Tandy
  28. Deskmate user interface, please note that the song file format used in the
  29. Music Transcription System II is different from that used by the Tandy
  30. Deskmate Music program.  You should not attempt to use files produced by one
  31. program with those produced by the other.  The file type suffix used in the
  32. Music Transcription System II (.mts) is different from that used in the
  33. Deskmate Music program (.sng) to prevent accidental confusions.

  36. MUSIC TRANSCRIPTION SYSTEM UPGRADES

  38.    Songs created with previously released versions of the Music Transcription
  39. System can be used with this new version of the software by changing the file
  40. suffix.  Previous versions of the program used the suffix ".sng".  The new
  41. program uses the suffix ".mts" to avoid collisions with files produced by the
  42. Tandy Deskmate Music program.  To allow the Music Transcription System II to
  43. find songs written by previous releases, you must use the DOS "rename"
  44. command on each song to change it to the new suffix.  For example:

  47.      A> rename song1.sng song1.mts

  51.    Since the old song file format did not include the song title in the file,
  52. you will need to use the STORE function in the program to save the song in
  53. the new format and re-enter the title when requested.  To help you in this
  54. process, you can get a list of song names and titles by printing the file
  55. song.idx.  Please note: once renamed and/or rewritten, the songs CANNOT be
  56. read by old versions of the program.
